Getting Started

Before beginning your Category C rigid truck training, you will need a valid Category C learner permit.

You must first hold a full, valid Category B driving licence and pass the Category C Driver Theory Test. The test consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, and you must answer at least 74 correctly to pass.

You will also need to meet the medical requirements for a Category C learner permit. A completed medical report is required when applying for truck categories.

Once you have passed your theory test and have the required documentation, you can apply for your Category C learner permit through the National Driver Licence Service (NDLS), either online where eligible or through an NDLS centre.

Once your Category C learner permit has been issued, you can begin your practical rigid truck driver training with Doyle Driver Training in Waterford.
