Why Choose Us?
Professional Category CE Driver Training
Doyle Driver Training provides professional Category CE articulated truck driver training in Waterford for drivers looking to progress from rigid trucks to articulated vehicles and further their career in professional driving.
Our training is friendly, patient and practical, with lessons tailored to your experience and ability. We focus on developing the skills, knowledge and confidence required for your Category CE driving test, while also preparing you for the demands of professional articulated truck driving.
Driving Course Specifics
Our Category CE training is carried out using a modern Volvo FH equipped with Volvo I-Shift transmission and dual controls. Our training vehicle and trailer are fully insured for both driver training and driving tests.
Training covers the key skills required for articulated driving, including safe vehicle control, positioning, observation, reversing, coupling and uncoupling, and managing the additional length and movement of an articulated vehicle.
We use a 33-foot urban twin-wheel tandem-axle box trailer, giving learners practical experience with a realistic truck-and-trailer combination and helping prepare them for professional driving.
If you hold a manual Category B licence, current licensing rules may allow the automatic-transmission restriction (code 78) to be removed from your Category CE entitlement after passing in an automatic vehicle. This is subject to NDLS requirements, and we can explain the process when arranging your training.
We provide Category CE training for new learners progressing to articulated vehicles, as well as refresher lessons and intensive driving courses.
Getting the Learner Permit for Category CE
Getting Your Category CE Learner Permit
Before you can begin Category CE articulated truck training, you will need a valid Category CE learner permit.
To apply for a Category CE learner permit, you must already hold a full, valid Category C truck licence and have previously passed the relevant Category C truck theory test.
You can apply for your learner permit through the National Driver Licence Service (NDLS). Medical and other supporting documentation may be required as part of your application.
If you intend to drive trucks professionally, Driver CPC requirements may also apply.
Once you have your Category CE learner permit, you can begin your articulated truck training with Doyle Driver Training in Waterford.
